Could you elaborate on your professional journey and the experiences that led to you joining Cybaverse? What factors influenced your decision to make this significant leap?
Before joining Cybaverse, I spent two years working in cloud security and DevSecOps, primarily focusing on integrating security into software development processes. My journey started with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Newcastle University, where I developed a passion for security and automation. After graduating, I joined a professional services firm as a Cloud Security and DevSecOps Consultant, where I was involved in architecting security into CI/CD pipelines and implementing robust security measures on platforms like Azure and GCP.
I was drawn to this company in particular because of its commitment to staying ahead of cyber security trends and its focus on fostering a culture of continuous learning, especially with the release of Cybaverse.ai this year. The opportunity to work in an innovative environment where I could utilise my cloud security skills while furthering my expertise in cyber security was a perfect fit for my career aspirations.
How would you say that your educational and professional experiences prior to Cybaverse have contributed to your success in your current role with us?
My professional background has really laid the groundwork for me to succeed in my current role by providing me with a skillset including the ability to learn new skills quickly, remain calm under pressure and be flexible to change.
Ability to Learn New Skills Quickly: My time in education, equipped me with a solid foundation in computing principles and the ability to rapidly adapt to new technologies. In my previous roles, I continuously expanded my knowledge by learning a range of techniques and tools such as Python, Bash, and Kubernetes. This experience taught me how to stay updated with the latest advancements in cloud security and DevSecOps, ensuring that I bring innovative solutions to the company and my team.
Remaining Calm Under Pressure: Working as a Consultant, I frequently encountered high-pressure situations, from managing tight project deadlines to addressing the demanding needs of customers. This experience honed my ability to maintain composure and focus on delivering effective solutions even when faced with complex challenges. The ability to remain calm under pressure has been crucial in the fast-paced environment here at Cybaverse.
Flexibility to Change: Throughout my career, I have been involved in diverse projects ranging from ITSM implementation to cyber-attack response efforts. These experiences have taught me the importance of being adaptable and responsive to shifting priorities and challenges. My role at here benefits from this flexibility, allowing me to seamlessly transition between different tasks and projects while ensuring that I contribute positively to the team’s objectives.
What distinctive skills, experiences, or perspectives do you bring to your role at Cybaverse?
I have worked for companies of all sizes across a wide range of industries. This has significantly improved my understanding of what our customers are actively seeking from an MSSP. As a result, it has meant my work can help Cybaverse offer solutions that are perfectly aligned with their client’s needs in the form of Cybaverse.ai.
What sort of activities and involvement in projects have you had? Are there any standout moments you’ve found particularly memorable?
As the Cloud Security Engineer, I have worked extensively with the product team throughout the software development cycle, including brainstorming ideas, collaborating with developers to build and deploy Cybaverse.ai, our cyber security management platform.
I have conducted calls with clients to support their technical needs and with suppliers to ensure that our product meets our requirements and maintains high quality.
In your opinion, what distinguishes Cybaverse as a workplace? How does the company cultivate a positive and inclusive culture?

Have you completed or do you plan to pursue any training or development to enhance your role at Cybaverse?
I plan to undertake training in Kubernetes security. Kubernetes security involves protecting the cluster infrastructure, managing access control, securing network communications, and handling sensitive data effectively. This training will help me bring a new perspective to the product team.
How do you typically like to spend your time away from work? Do you have any specific passions or interests?
I have always enjoyed a variety of sports, particularly football, American football, and going to the gym. Whether watching or playing, football has always been a passion of mine.
When I'm not engaged in sports, I like to socialise with my friends.
If you could offer one piece of advice to a new employee starting at Cybaverse, what would it be?
My advice to new employees would be to embrace the culture of continuous learning and speak up! The field of Cyber Security is fast-paced, and staying curious and proactive will help you thrive.
